The vacancy announcement purported to have been generated and circulated by the County Government of Nairobi is FAKE and has since been flagged by the county.
The Advert calls out for applicants to send their applications, CV and certificates to nairobicountyjobs@outlook.com which is suspicious. The County Government official use @nairobi.go.ke i.e info@nairobi.go.ke; alternatively, the government usually sets up a data-based or an online platform where applicants upload all documents and are received and segmented automatically
The Fake advertisement has since been circulated widely on various social media calling for various positions in the County Government including; Social workers, Secretaries, Enforcement Officers, Cleaners, Drivers, Nurses, ECD Teachers, and Clerical Officers.
The advert, we established is out to defraud unsuspecting job applicants into sending their official documents to fraudsters who would use them for illegal transactions;
- They can use the official documents including ID No.s certificates, location, etc. to blackmail of carry out dubious transactions that could land one in serious trouble
- The fraudster could ask for money to be able to converse for the claimed job opportunities – usually they term it processing fee or registration fee
