An image of President William Ruto having talks with former President Uhuru Kenyatta has emerged online with claims pegged on political winds in Mt. Kenya region. Through online reverse image search and error level analysis on the image, we established the picture was fabricated using software like Photoshop to imply the two actually met in State House.
Revere image search on Google established that the purported image was originally that of President Ruto when he met head of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, to discuss security situation in Sudan.
The image producer went ahead to clone Uhuru Kenyatta’s head into the image, flipped it, altered South Sudan’s flag seen on the coffee table but forgot to alter flag of the pole.
INTENT
Political showdown in Kenya especially in Mt. Kenya region is already shaping up with fallouts emerging. Propagandists are thinking that the President may drop his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua in the upcoming general elections in 2027 and pick Uhuru as his point man. To illustrate their ideologies, they fabricated such image to imply President Ruto is wooing Kenyatta
