Emoo Fm, one of the prominent Kalenjin radio broadcasters has disowned news purported to have originated from its Facebook page with a following of over 247,000. The information claimed one of Kericho County Gubernatorial aspirants Dr. Eric Mutai has opted out of the UDA Party. The announcement bearing broadcasters Facebook banner is misleading and meant to swing political following. The broadcaster announced on its Facebook page that the information circulating on several social media forums is FAKE. The broadcasters Banner was clipped out with misleading messaging typed out using similar font as Facebook’s. Mr. Charles Keter resigned from his Cabinet Secretary position to vie for Kericho County Gubernatorial seat and has announced he will battle it out on UDA ticket.

Media content consumers tend to trust news from mainstream outlets as information is subjected to editorial and gatekeeping practices. Unscrupulous bloggers riding on this, edit out screenshots of the mainstreams to misinform and disinform. This is simply for malicious or selfish gains.
