Recently, Johnson Sakaja image claiming that he graduated from the University of Nairobi having donned graduation attire has virally been shared in various social media platforms.
The image and other fabricated pictures emerged after he presented degree certificates to The Commission for University Education (CUE), that has since raised alarm from the members of the public and civil society casting doubts on its authenticity.
Sakaja is a Kenyan politician who is aspiring for Nairobi Gubernatorial on United Democratic Alliance ticket (UDA) alongside his main opponent Polycarp Igathe on Jubilee party under Azimio la Umoja.
We carried out a reverse image check and established that the original image was downloaded from Photodoto and here which through the technical contextual analysis we identified that the context bit on the booklet had been tampered with, given that the original image was published on 20 December,2020 bearing the name Victor M Nzyoka who graduated with Masters of Science in Finance at The University of Nairobi. Also, through thorough image lab study, we established that Nzyoka’s face was cloned and replaced with that of Sakaja.
INTENT: The image was mainly fabricated for political satire and propaganda, this drive tag of war between political opponents on Sakaja’s credibility to run for Nairobi Governor position that demands one must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree.
