Presidential candidate Prof. George Wajackoyah has made headlines claiming spies from two opposing parties-‘Kenya Kwanza’ and ‘Azimio’ have infiltrated his offices. The ‘Roots Party’ leader claims he is, however, aware of such a move and even humorises it as a ‘cat and mouse’ game; unshaken and unsurprised by his competitors’ moves to sabotage him.
The quoted photo with these remarks and K24 branding along with their #KURA2022 hashtag, was indeed posted by the Official K24 Twitter page, on the 19th of June shortly after Prof. Wajackoyah’s remarks. Although no evidence has been presented to support these claims, this is not fake news as it is from a trustworthy source and should be taken as such.
INTENT
The well-known media outlet was simply passing on what was said by the presidential candidate in bid to gauge feedback from their subscribers to the report of spies being planted in the presidential candidates’ office. The candidate himself may also have wanted to indirectly tell his competitors that he is aware of their tricks and does not intend to stop but to keep moving forward as this is something he also has some background knowledge in. He says, “You can’t send a mediocre to spy on someone who was once also a spy”, implying that he too is aware and recognizes some of these techniques. This news has since been verified and is NOT fake news.
