A fake grant application form purporting to be from the USAID Africa Trade and Investment program. USAID Kenya flagged the advert and refuted any association with this fraudulent scheme meant to scam people.
USAID Kenya/East Africa cleared the name of their Mission Director, David Gosney and disassociated him with the fake form. The form meant to scam unaware grant applicants who would later be charged a fee to submit the form. USAID stated that they do not charge any fees at any point of an application process.
People are cautioned to beware of such fraudulent schemes that mimic organisations and ask for a fee in the process. To be free from such scams it is advisable to verify from an organisation’s website and official social media platforms before undertaking any action. This is a common scheme as many have fallen victims of this kind of robbery.
