Our daily lives have been plagued with volumes of information on a daily basis. Whereas information is power, consumption of fake information may lead people within the society to make wrong and or irrational decisions that may be harmful to their social lives.

Get Involved
Everyone has responsibility to rid misinformation. Be vigilant and avoid being deceived through fake images, be on the lookout and help unsuspecting consumers.
Here is a three-step process anyone can use in debunking fake images:
1) Reverse-image search; upload image you suspect has been fabricated to image.google.com or www.tineye.com; you will be able to get original* versions of such image and thus interpret them accurately.
2)Error Level Analysis (ELA); This is a procedure where one examines an image for possibly altered image features. This including a look out for alteration of shadows, colouration and texture, juxtaposition of objects, cloning and general analysis of object symmetry and ratios. Technical ELA on pixels and image compression may further be conducted by experts.
3) Contextual Analysis; using accompanying image captions, one may subject images in question to deductive reasoning including; comparison of dates, available data and information. This process is helpful with a combination of the reverse-image search.
