By the virtue of Mainstream Media’s prominence & command, political propagandists have gone ahead to fabricate cover pages of newspapers or screenshots of broadcasters including photoshopping headlines, Images, kickers etc.
GAZETI LA TAIFA LEO for instance is a victim of such manipulation owing to its catchy headlines – on Feb 2, 2022, their cover (Midsection) was completely distorted with a completely misleading headline & image. (see attached image)
COMMENT:
Digital media consumers need to be careful with virally disseminated mainstream newspapers covers.
1. Be on the lookout for extremely sensationalized headlines
2. Compare headline fonts with publisher’s
3. Do a quick search for current headlines for comparison esp. from the official publisher’s A/Cs
4. Do a reverse image search via image.google.com or tineye.com
